Many essential oils have a variety of properties. An oil such as bergamot is soothing to the nervous system, yet uplifting to the mind; a regulating oil such as geranium is either relaxing or reviving according to the individual’s need. Other oils like patchouli can be stimulating in small amounts but sedating or even soporific in excess – much like a wine!
